Tue 31st Jan 2025 – My 2024 football in numbers: I attended 36 matches, saw 111 goals, there were 26 winning performances, I witnessed 6 draws, and I was subjected to 4 defeats, I visited 8 different grounds, (4 for the first time Durham, Borehamwood (Arsenal), Bristol City, Tranmere (Liverpool).
Wed 1st Jan 2025 – Happy New Year, since the end of the print production King of the Kippax I haven't waffled on about football in my erratic way because basically I couldn't be arsed, we’ve won a 4th PL in a row since then, but recently we’ve been playing some very concerning stuff, one paced, plodding football that’s not going to win us anything, and whether I can be bothered to continue wittering away is anybody’s guess… New signing in the shape of Rebecca Knaak, she signs from Rosengard, an obvious stand in for the injured Greenwood. It shows that when all parties want it a transfer can be concluded on the very first day of the transfer window… Watched Sheffield Wednesday v Derby on Sky+, an entertaining game that will be remembered for the superb goal from his own half by Windass...
Thu 2nd Jan 2025 – Ventured out in the world for the first time since boxing day, nothing much to report, nearly bought a frozen turkey from Tesco as they were on offer, but thought better of it, and that’s as exciting as today has got…
Fri 3rd Jan 2025 – Bought a ticket for City’s Women’s away game at Leigh Sports Village, the seating plan gave me cause for concern,
the League Cup is sponsored by Subway I hope this isn’t some sort of reflection on their food outlets, but more likely is for the nausea caused by sitting on those red plastic seats… The Guardian has a whole story about Pep spitting...
Sat 4th Jan 2025 – Wham at home, given my ticket away to my daughter as I’m still recovering from the Xmas lurgy and didn’t think sitting out in the cold for a couple of hours was a good idea. A comfortable win, without playing that well, the 4-1 scoreline flattered us, Savinho was looking good, and Haaland scoring a couple should get him back towards his unstoppable best...
Wed 8th Jan 2025 – Managed to watch a film each night on my night shifts this week, Mouthpiece (two actors playing the same character at the same time), Secret In Their Eyes (Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts), Once Upon A Time… In Holywood (a typical Tarantino film), and Dazed and Confused (the last day at a High School with 70’s rock soundtrack surprisingly good), all four entertained and kept my attention throughout...
Thu 9th Jan 2025 – Loads of talk and stories about us signing Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt… The managerial roundabout is in full swing, Wham sacked Lopetegui the other day and already have Potter installed, today Dyche has gone from Everton only hours before their home cup tie with Peterborough, and Moyes is being tipped for a return…
