My City World (January 2025)

Fri 10th Jan 2025 – Alcoholic drinks will be allowed to be drunk pitch side at four second tier Women’s matches as a trial, I attend a lot of women’s matches and alcoholic drinks pitch side isn’t exactly what’s missing from the match-day experience… Bobb is back in training…

Sat 11th Jan 2025 – Salford at home, level one of the Colin Bell Stand for me as the rags and Salfordians took my normal seat, it was the easiest of victories, eight goals, with plenty of youngsters getting their chance and looking good while doing so. Not a single minute of added-on time at the end of the game despite goal celebrations and a multitude of subs, the ref sparing the opposition embarrassment while match going fans miss out on an extra six minutes or so of football for the money they’ve paid

Sun 12th Jan 2025 – Ipswich at home for the women today, me and granddaughter Ava were stood behind the goal, a one-sided game where the opposition hardly had a shot, debut for new signing Knaak who looked composed, and a goal for Miedema on her return from injury, excellent... The draw for 4th round of the FA Cup gives us Derby or Leyton Orient… Kyle Walker wants away from City according to Pep, he’s been awful all season and his off field antics don’t exactly sit well with being club captain, its a shame it has to end this way, Kyle has been and absolute star of our record breaking team and I wish him well in the future...

Mon 13th Jan 2025 – The draw for the next round of the women’s FA Cup gives us a home tie against Leicester… Khusanov, Marmoush, and Reis look like they are on their way to City this transfer window...

Tue 14th Jan 2025Tony Book has passed away at the age of 90, a name from my childhood who represented the club in the way that we all want our legends to do, for around sixty years he represented what it meant to be a blue, RIP Skip… Brentford away, two up with ten minutes to play and another capitulation, we created more and the performance was better on the whole… Steph Houghton calls for more teams in the WSL, and I couldn’t agree more… It’s to be Leyton Orient in the cup, we haven’t played since the mid 60’s...

Wed 15th Jan 2025Klopp spouts off about how he’d have a party if City’s titles were stripped from them, the headline was enough for me to move on to something else… Email from City that includes my ticket for City’s Women’s away game against the united at Leigh Sports Village, and the following:

I’d chosen my seat, back row near the halfway line, but now I’ve been moved to near the corner flag and lower down the stand…

Thu 16th Jan 2025 – Not satisfied with our nearly completed transfers, City are now heavily linked with a move for Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus...

Fri 17th Jan 2025 – I’m barely out of bed, and Erling has signed a new contract that will keep him at City until 2034, incredible stuff, the PL has had big stars over the years, but never has it had the worlds greatest players playing in England at the peak of their careers and they are doing it at Manchester City… It looks like Kyle Walker is off to AC Milan…

Sat 18th Jan 2025 – Had a trip out to deepest darkest Lancashire to watch Glossop North End play Colne, £7 entry, terrible football, physical, aggressive, with the ball spending 50% of the time airborne, the odd tackle flew in that would have been straight reds in the PL but didn’t even warrant a yellow, Glossop went two behind despite being marginally the better team, and with a late fight back salvaged a draw, all in all entertaining enough and reasonable value for money, disappointed I didn’t see any wild black puddings but I’m told they are very elusive these days… In the PL the Geordies got a slapping at home to the highly entertaining Bournemouth, the scousers got two 90 minute plus goals to continue their stroll towards the title, and the Arse threw away a two goal lead at home to draw with Villa, all very Barclays… Over in the USA its play-off time in the gridiron, I thought I miss heard the commentor when he said that the average ticket price for the Detroit Lions game was $880, but I’ve checked and this is correct…
